Islam - Roy Oskenvad
Islam is the second-largest religion in the world (after Christianity). Like Christianity, it has its roots in the same traditions as Judaisim. Followers of Islam (called Muslims), however, believe that both Judaism and Christianity have distorted the messages of the prophets. Muslims believe that Muhammed is the last prophet of God. The central religious text is the Qur'an, which was given to Muhammed through divine revelation.
There are 5 "pillars" of Islam, which all Muslims must follow:
1)The belief that "There is only one God and his prophet is Muhammed"
2) Ritual prayer
3) The giving of alms
3) Fasting
4) A pilgrimage to Mecca must be made sometime in a Muslim's life
