Christmas Boxes for Cathedral Shelter
2006
Fifty-two St. Mark’s families, plus the Daughters of
the King, the Eighth-graders, the Sr. High Youth, and the families
of Parents Day Out were able to serve a record number of needy
families: fifty-six for Cathedral Shelter (and it would have
been more, but they ran out of families for us to adopt), plus
one local family of eight, representing 198 people.
Boxes started arriving at church, stacked in the Rainbow Room,
during the week prior to our pick up date of Saturday, December
9th, and by the time the truck arrived (early!) just before
10:00 a.m., more than two dozen volunteers had moved the 150
boxes and three bikes from the Rainbow Room outside, lining
the parking lot, to await the truck. Once the truck arrived,
we had it loaded in less than 15 minutes – the power of
numbers! What a great turnout!
