MISS KRISTINE  Director, AM Kindergarten Enrichment, Studio Arts

I have been involved in Early Childhood for over 15 years in both teaching and administration roles and am always striving to improve in my methods for understanding and connecting with young children. The Reggio inspired program here at St. Mark’s supports my passion for truly seeing children and allows me the opportunity to help children express their wonders, think deeply and find the joy in the world around them. I have a BA in English as well as an Early Childhood Education certification and coursework in Early Childhood Administration. When I’m not at St. Mark’s, I enjoy spending time with my three daughters: Shea, is a recent college graduate with a BFA in Playwrighting and is now on the path to a Masters in Nursing, Stella who is currently pursuing her passion in art and songwriting, and Sydney who loves math and music and plays piano and viola.

MISS LESLIE   3 Day AM,  3 Day PM

I am so excited to be returning to St. Mark’s Preschool for another year of teaching and learning. One of my favorite things about SMP is that I am always learning – whether it be from a colleague, one of the clergy, or the children it’s a continuous journey of wonder! From the first day I walked in to SMP it has felt like home to me, I love being part of this beautiful church environment. Learning about the Reggio approach has and continues to be an amazing experience for me. This approach to education feels very natural to me as a teacher. Prior to coming to St. Mark’s I spent five years teaching preschool at Wide Horizons in Wheaton. I have a B.A. degree in Psychology and Sociology and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. I am also a certified massage therapist which is my other passion. Although the two careers initially sound very different they have many similarities, although I admit the level of noise does greatly vary from one to the other. When I’m not enjoying one of my professions, I am busy being mom to my two beautiful teenage daughters, Emma and Mia.

MISS JEN   4 Day AM,  4 Day PM

Hello! My name is Jen. I feel so fortunate to be part of St. Mark’s Preschool. After receiving my teaching degree in 1994, I participated in a nationally recognized program in Kansas City that focused on teaching in the inner city. I then moved back to Naperville where I taught in District 203. While teaching I earned a Masters of Arts in Curriculum. I taught until 2000 when my son Conner was born. I then decided to stay at home and focus on being a mom. Two years later I was blessed with a daughter, Taylor. When my kids started preschool, I served on the preschool board. When Conner and Taylor attended elementary school, I volunteered as a reading aide, ran classroom parties and created the school yearbook. I also volunteered teaching Sunday school at my church. As my kids grew older, I felt called to work with kids again so I started teaching preschool in Wheaton. Several years later I learned about the St. Mark’s Preschool program. I met the teachers, Father George and a few board members. I believed in their mission and the Reggio Emilia philosophy and knew St. Mark’s was where I should be teaching. I am a positive and devoted teacher who focuses on the whole child. I love fostering children’s curiosity and learning through play. When I am not teaching, I love kicking the soccer ball around with my son, bumping the volleyball back and forth with my daughter, and walking with my husband and our dog.

Hi! I’m Miss Georgina and I LOVE being a part of St. Mark’s Preschool! I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and started my teaching career with Chicago Commons teaching State Pre-Kindergarten, where I was introduced to the Reggio Emilia philosophy. After teaching in the inner city for several years, I took a break from the classroom and worked in Child Care Resource and Referral and running Child Care Centers. When I had my daughter in 2002, I decided to stay home and just be Mom. My son came along a few years later and I enjoyed being home with them and volunteering in their schools. After 14 years at home, I decided it was time to get back into the classroom and I was lucky enough to land at St. Mark’s!! I enjoy coming to school every day and seeing our families and students. When I am not at school, I spend my time doing projects around the house or with my amazing kids and their activities. My daughter, Veronica, rides horses and my son, Jackson, plays football and basketball.

Hello St. Mark’s Preschool Families, I am Miss Stephanie, the newest member of the St. Mark’s teaching team. I come to you with a degree in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education, as well as experience with the Handwriting without Tears curriculum. Having been involved in building a Reggio Emilia inspired program at my previous job, I am excited to continue with the Reggio philosophy here at St. Mark’s. I have been a lead teacher as well as an Assistant Director in a preschool setting. My husband and I reside in Bolingbrook with our daughter, Harper and dog, Dozer. When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, anything and everything Disney, and trips to my family’s lake house. I am excited to bring my passion to instill a love for learning to St. Marks Preschool. I have a true joy for supporting and connecting to children and their families. I want my students to love being at school and with me! I look forward to a wonderful school year full of fun and lots of learning!
