Inspired by the book Hold Me Tight, by Susan Johnson, Rachel Alcorn and Kelly Allison will lead us in a lively discussion on a revolutionary new way to see and shape love relationships. The stories, and new ideas we will cover are based on the new science of love and the wisdom of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. This exciting and refreshing theory incorporates principles borrowed from attachment theory of parenting, and details how to create a safe emotional bond that can last a lifetime. Join us as we explore attachment and communication styles within relationships and discuss how a better understanding of your own interpersonal patterns can strengthen your marriage.

Rachel Peterson Alcorn is an interior decorator and mother of three, based in Glen Ellyn. With a masters in social work and a background working with orphaned children, Rachel has a great deal of personal and professional experience exploring theories of attachment both in child and adult relationships. She utilizes her understanding of the family network, coupled with her innate visual talent to create restful and inspired interior environments that are conducive to life together.
Also based in Glen Ellyn, Kelly Allison is a family photographer and mother of two. Understanding familial relationships is a great asset in portrait photography. Prior to the development of her photography business, Kelly worked for eight years at the corporate level for the national stationary boutique Paper Source. Her experience on the both the artistic and management ends of the business have gifted her with an expert’s understanding of balancing personnel and creative expression. She draws upon her experience of attachment theories within her own marriage and family, to engage her photography clients and capture each family’s unique narrative.
