Donations Needed!

Buses from Texas with migrants have been arriving in DuPage County suburbs, including Glen Ellyn, where they transfer to Metra trains headed for Ogilvy Center. Many of these people do not have warm clothing.

St. Mark's is ready to start a "rapid response" to bring a word of welcome and encouragement as well as items for cold weather to migrants who are being brought to Glen Ellyn by bus to transfer to Metra trains. At least ten buses have arrived in Glen Ellyn since last week. Father George received word that a bus had arrived this past Friday and was able to make it to the station before they boarded the Metra train to downtown. There were at least 35 people, children included. All were from either Columbia or Venezuela. They were glad to hear a word of welcome and encouragement and were eager to receive coats and other items for the cold.

The following items are needed and may be brought to the library at St. Mark's where there are collection boxes:

Coats
Gloves/mittens
Hats
Scarves

***Please make sure these items are new or gently used.
***Note: we are not able to accept other items of clothing at this time. Please only donate coats, hats, mitten/gloves, and scarves.

Items may be brought to the church library at these times:

Monday - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday - 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Friday - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Please place the items in the collection boxes in the library.
