Boy Scout Troop 44 & Cub Scout Pack 158

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 44

Wednesdays: 7:00PM – 8:30PM
St. Mark's Episcopal Church

St. Mark’s Church and BSA Scout Troop 44 have shared a long, mutually beneficial relationship for over 100 years, interrupted by only one year during World War II when there were no leaders available. BSA Scout Troop 44 is one of the longest continuously chartered scouting organizations in Glen Ellyn.

We consider the “outing” part of “Scouting” crucial to maintain scout interest and activity. To accomplish this, we sponsor a camp outing every month of the year. Each camping trip involves a variety of outdoor activities including canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking, orienteering, first aid, fire safety, nature, wildlife studies, pioneering, and cooking. We provide this exciting program to the boys, aged 10-17, of Glen Ellyn and surrounding communities.

Scouts have the opportunity to work on over 100 different Merit Badges, including a range of subjects including Art, Digitial Technology, Engineering, Kayaking, Space Exploration, Sports and Wilderness Survival to name but a few.  While working on these badges, the Scouts also develop their leadership skills while advancing through the ranks towards Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting.

Another cornerstone of Scouting is cheerful service.  Therefore, the troop has been a service-oriented member of Glen Ellyn and the surrounding communities throughout its history. We actively participate in community service projects as a troop, benefitting organizations such as the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, PADs and Feed My Starving Children.   Troop 44’s connection with St. Mark’s has been beneficial to the troop and the church in many ways, with the troop providing support and assistance wherever possible.
